Events to be manned by various troops:
} Log walking race. Each Patrol is provided with two logs and rope. The logs must be tied to the feet with the rope and then walked down to the finish line. This is a timed event.
} Bucket Brigade, Build a fire and burn the string, then go to a “remote” water source and fill a bucket to put it out. A modified bucket will be provided. This is a timed event
} Cross the snake pit. Equipment needed. Each patrol will need 3 spars 6 to 8 feet long. 3 six foot pieces of rope for lashing and 4 guy ropes.
Action, Mark a couple lines 20 feet across and wide enough to accommodate multiple patrols. Using a shear lashing and 2 diagonal lashings they construct a triangular walker, they then attach the guy lines and stand the walker up. They then walk the walker by tipping it to the other side. First patrol on the other side wins. This is a timed event.
} Hot bucket of coals. 4 ropes and a 20 foot circle. The object is to move the container without spilling the contents.
} Lashed log race.Patrol lashes 3 spars together to make a triangle and then the members pick it up and carry a Scout to the finish line. This is a timed event
} Hatchet throw
} Stump Jumpin’. Scouts must walk across the tops of #10 cans. This is a timed event
} Jump the creek. Set up lines on the ground that must be jumped across. Start at 2 feet and increase width 1 foot until 6 feet is reached.
} Flapjack flip. Cook pancakes using 2 cups of batter, then either one scout eats them all or a hula hoop will be set in the water and the pancakes will be “flipped” into the hula hoop. Can be judged on time or accuracy depending on how the event is done.
