Activities
Mawat District and Occoneechee Council offer a variety of activities in which packs, troops, crews, posts and ships are invited to participate. See the district calendar for specific dates.
District Camporee
The District Camporee is a weekend campout for troops. Patrols compete in Scoutcraft competitions, and are judged on leadership, teamwork, skill demonstration and Scout spirit. District Camporees usually occur in the spring and fall each year.
Summer Camp
Summer Camp is a week of terrific summer experiences where Scouts in troops can earn merit badges, and learn and practice their Scouting skills. This is done at a Troop level.
Twilight Camp
Twilight Camp is a day camp organized by districts and conducted by volunteers from the local area for Cub Scouts. Twilight Camp is full of fun with awesome programs and activities, such as BB guns, archery, sports, STEM, games and crafts, rank advancements, Scout skills, and more. Many volunteers are needed to make camp a success, so please consider volunteering.
Resident Camp
Resident Camp is a three-night camping program for Cub Scouts. Cub Scouts can participate in BB guns, archery, sling shots, crafts, sports, games, campfire, and lots more.
Popcorn Sales Fundraiser for Local Scouting
Popcorn Sales are held each fall and are a wonderful fundraising opportunity for units. This is a great way to support the entire year of Scouting.
Fall Join Scouting Nights
Fall Join Scouting Nights are an opportunity to reach out to each potential Cub Scout and family with a personal invitation to join a pack where they will learn positive values, new skills and have fun with friends. The fall recruiting campaign will focus on recruiting new families to the fun and adventures of Cub Scouting.
Scouting for Food
Scouting for Food is a council-wide service project in conjunction with the local Food Bank. There is no better way to show our Scouting spirit to the community than by participating in the annual Scouting for Food drive!
Merit Badge College
A Merit Badge College is an excellent opportunity for Scouts in troops to work on several merit badges. Classes are taught by adults with experience in the field. Merit Badge Colleges usually occur in the spring and fall each year.
Shooting Sports
Shooting Sports events offer a variety of trainings, merit badges, and programs for BB guns, archery, slingshot, rifle and shotgun. Different levels of scouting have their own restrictions. Trained leaders supervise these events.
STEM
STEM activities engage youth in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics.
